Summary:
An Ocean Transportation company is looking to hire a Safety and Compliance Coordinator. This position is responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and creating programs to control, eliminate, and prevent workplace hazards caused by chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic factors.This role will help develop and enforce safety policies in compliance with state and federal regulations, ensuring a safe work environment and supporting accident prevention and health initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate work environments to identify and mitigate health and safety risks.
- Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct safety committee meetings, accident investigations, and employee training.
- Ensure corrective actions are taken for identified hazards and deficiencies.
- Conduct drug and alcohol testing when needed and coordinate with HR on workers" compensation and safety compliance.
- Prepare, maintain, and update safety documentation, logs, and reports.
- Collaborate with the Hazmat team for incident responses and compliance tasks.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and orientation sessions for new hires.
- Prepare reports and maintain communication with regulatory bodies.
