Overview:
A lovely family in Darien, CT are seeking a full-time live-in or live-out nanny/family assistant for their 1 year old to start as early as November, but are willing to wait till they find the right candidate. The general schedule will be Monday through Friday from 7/8am- 4/5pm, for a guaranteed 45-50 hours per week, with some flexibility for occasional scheudle changes due to parents' work schedules, date nights, and travel.The family would love to find a live-in nanny, or a local nanny that is close by and ok with the daily commute. This is an informal and loving family, both parents grew up with nannies and they would love to find someone who takes pride in their role and can feel like part of the family.
Responsibilities:
- Overall care of the 1- year-old
- Provide age-appropriate activities
- Take child on walks, outings,
- Reading to the child, encouraging explorative play inside and outside
- Minding developmental milestones and educational development
- Engaging with and supporting the child
- Preparing meals for the child
- Light child-related housekeeping to help maintain an organized space including laundry, sanitizing toys, and helping tidy kid areas and living spaces
- Help with family assistant duties: answering the door, bringing in the mail, organizational tasks, helping schedule and set up classes for the child
- Picking up after yourself: wiping down counters, dishes done, etc
- Cooking for the family would be a huge plus, but not a requirement
Qualifications:
- Someone loving, willing, excited to join their expanding family
- Happy to travel
- Flexible and reasonable, the family is looking for someone with a flexible mindset between nanny and family assistant, and able to be an extra set of hands when the parents are home
- Self starter, team payer, does not need constant instructions, but can take direction and follow house rules
- Reliable and trustworthy
- Kind, loving,
- Educationally focused in terms of play, interacting and engaged in an age-appropriate manner
- Physically able to keep up with a toddler, dog, and new baby in the future
- Someone who actively wants to go out and play in the snow and can also create fun indoor play
Requirements:
- Experience with newborns or young infants, and toddlers, with at least 2 references
- English speaker, but ideally knows a second language. Parents speak English and French
- Must be ok with dogs, family has one large golden retriever who will need to be walked when time allows
- Someone who can navigate parents that are home often
- Flexible
- Travel ready
- Comfortable around the water, and can at least hold their own swimming. Family is building a pool.
- Valid US drivers license, family car provided
- Ok with signing an NDA for this very private family
- Updated on all vaccines, including covid boosters, Tdap and flu, etc
Salary and Benefits:
- $30-$35 per hour, plus standard OT
