Quality Lead

HyperLight is a venture-backed startup spun off from Harvard University in 2018 based on discoveries that enabled thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) photonics. Our photonic integrated circuits offer exceptional performance unmatched by other materials and are manufactured at high volume and low cost.

We design and manufacture tailored chips to customers around the world for optical communications, sensing, and emerging photonic technologies like quantum computing and AR/VR. We partner with our customers from conceptualization to mass production to deliver new regimes of system performance.

We are seeking a highly experienced and effective Quality Lead to join our team. The person in this position will be responsible for designing, building, and implementing the Quality Management System at HyperLight. This key hire will be essential in taking HyperLight to the next level of PIC production and delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead effort to develop and maintain the Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and other standards.
  • Ensure QMS documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Manage internal and external audits, ensuring certification compliance.
  • Act as liaison with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives using Six Sigma, Lean, and other methodologies.
  • Collaborate with teams to enhance product quality and process efficiency.
  • Oversee quality assurance processes, including product inspection and testing.
  • Establish and monitor quality control plans with engineering and production teams.
  • Train staff on QMS standards and best practices.
  • Provide guidance on problem-solving and root cause analysis.
  • Address customer quality concerns and lead corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with sales and customer service to maintain high customer satisfaction.
  • Analyze quality data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Report quality metrics and performance to senior management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of quality management experience in the semiconductor industry.
  • Experience in optical communications components and integrated photonics field is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards.
  • Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and work cross-functionally with engineering, production, and business teams.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
