Water Resources Engineer

Our Transportation Group in our Raleigh, NC office is currently looking for a Water Resources Engineer to provide design support for water resources aspects of highway design, site and facility projects to include storm drain systems, SWM facilities, erosion and sediment control.

As a water resources engineer, you will gain experience and be mentored by experienced professional engineers and project managers. You will be asked to perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations and technical writing to prepare reports and permit applications, including those for wetland and waterway construction, stormwater management and erosion and sediment control. In addition, you will:

• Assist in performing field reviews of project sites to determine existing conditions to aid in the project design.
• Provide technical assistance for other design projects as needed, including stream restorations and bridge scour studies.
• - B.S. in Civil Engineering, emphasis in water resources or environmental engineering
• P.E. preferred
• 5-8 years of transportation related experience including storm drain systems, bridges, culverts, open channel flow, stormwater management (SWM), environmental permit drawings and erosion and sediment control
• Familiarity with OpenRoads, proficiency with MicroStation and related Bentley programs is preferred
• Experience with HEC-RAS, HY-8, FlowMaster or other water resource related programs is a plus
• Must be able to learn, understand and be able to apply North Carolina DOT Hydraulics Unit standards and Roadside Environmental Unit Erosion and Sediment Control Requirements
