Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities:

What We’re Looking For:

Iridium is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Product Manager to join our Product team. In this role, your primary focus will be on our Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) service and products such as ASICs, reference designs, and developer kits.
As a Product Manager at Iridium, you will support the ASIC currently in development and future commercial PNT product technologies. You will be the front face to customers and industry needs for the safety, security, and trusted time and location solutions.
Our customers currently include financial institutions, telecommunications, and power & utilities, and we are expanding into new markets such as maritime and IoT. You will work cross-functionally with all aspects of the organization to ensure product and customer success.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with Iridium’s PNT line of business leaders to:
  • Understand PNT customer segments of module, chipset, and processor manufacturers to ensure the Iridium PNT ASIC and other technologies are well-suited for partner use cases and integration in these industries
  • Develop detailed and fact-based business cases, market demand descriptions, product definitions, features, and functionality for executive presentations and roadmap decision-making
  • Define new competitive offerings that will lead to success in the market
  • Develop marketing requirements and product specifications for PNT products and their corresponding services, as well as network, gateway, or billing/provisioning systems
  • Partner with the engineering teams to translate marketing requirements into technical implementation
  • Develop and maintain product plans for hardware and services, including competitive analysis, sales strategy, market share attainment, partner engagement, and pricing/rate plans. You may not always be the owner of a final decision, but you must drive the decisions forward to meet the required product commercialization
  • Develop and manage the project plan with Program Managers and lead the product through development, beta trials, and commercialization
  • Create technical, user, and marketing documentation for internal and external use for related data products and services
  • Recruit, contract, and manage all aspects of partner beta trials for products and developer kits, ensuring well-supported and tested integration methods into chipsets, modules, or application boards
  • Support sales teams via technical presentations, sales training material, white papers, lab demonstrations, and other customer engagements
  • Assist the sales and marketing product readiness teams, ensuring that all organizations are prepared to launch products and services on the plan of record launch date

Experience & Education Requirements / EEO:

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years’ total experience with 2-5 years in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience with Product Management of modules, chipsets, or ASICs
  • Capable of being a strong motivator and source of direction for your project team
  • Have a people-oriented, “do the right thing” focus and be able to build meaningful relationships with peers and senior leadership across the company
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues clearly and confidently, and recognize and adapt to different communication techniques
  • Can easily build meaningful relationships with others, including senior leadership outside of your own department, and is comfortable providing constructive feedback to your team members and management
  • Be able to analyze a situation or problem, generate effective solutions, and see those solutions through to completion
  • Must possess the creativity and resourcefulness needed to make reliable decisions and determine methods on new assignments
  • Can thrive in a dynamic environment by handling multiple tasks and managing shifting priorities
  • Exceptional MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and the ability to easily and quickly conduct extensive Internet research

Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:

  • Experience in the PNT industry, cellular communications industry, wireless or satellite products and services
  • Experience with requirements development, interactions with operations organizations, customer support and training
  • Master’s Degree is a plus but not required
  • Proficiency in any foreign language is a great asset but not required

We’ll also need you to:

  • Be able to work in the office 3 days a week to foster collaboration with the team and stakeholders
  • Be able to travel up to 10%
  • US Citizenship required

Work Environment:

This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
