Safety Analyst

Overview:

The Safety Analyst provides support to the Safety Department through reporting, workflow development, data validation, analysis, and ROI determination. The position aids in the evaluation of existing processes and physical technology through regular KPI reporting and critical analysis to identify new and more effective methods to achieve safety goals.

This includes review of data at both a micro and macro level related to accidents, citations, and other safety related events. Additionally, review of various workflow platforms for effective integration and data integrity supports the infrastructure of the Safety Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Collects, validates, and reports KPI data regularly (weekly/monthly/quarterly/annually)
  • Identifies value adding opportunities for the Safety Department through analysis of regular and ad hoc data
  • Provides detailed summaries of analysis for specific areas of focus as well as to identify new opportunities
  • Collaborates with other departments for analysis of additional business data in association with Safety data.
  • Ensures proper controls are in place related to data consistency across platforms and workflows.
  • Applies qualitative and quantitative critical thinking to identify and understand root cause factors of safety related events at a micro and macro level.
  • Automates safety data collection and reporting via useful dashboards to support safety needs through the organization
  • Develops and implements new or revised processes that facilitate greater efficiencies within the department.
  • Coordinates between IT, Safety, and external vendors for consistent and accurate exchange of data between systems.

Qualifications:

Knowledge Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to work with and in between multiple levels of internal infrastructure in terms of both people and technology platforms.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and planning skills; ability to identify trends within data sets and make recommendations based on data analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to explain logistical processes and problems to non-practitioners and arrive at workable solutions
  • High degree of proficiency using MS Office Suite and Internet applications
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within and across teams
  • Self-motivated and driven; ability to keep pace a fast and deadline-oriented industry/working environment
  • Ability to work under pressure, with multiple, sometimes competing priorities, and within deadlines.
  • Proficient in software programs to process data and interpret results through critical thinking (Excel, PowerBI, DOMO, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in requirements gathering and documentation with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of transportation industry a plus
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science, Finance, Risk Management, or Mathematics preferred)
  • 1-3 Years of Experience in Transportation Industry or related role preferred.
  • Prior experience using TMS, ELD, eDVIR, Claims Mgmt, and Risk Mgmt software in a transportation environment a plus.

Covenant’s compensation philosophy’s intent is to use a competitive total compensation strategy to determine the current market value of a position while also considering individual factors such as performance in current position, time in seat of current position, experience, level of responsibility/accountability, and longevity with the company.

The system will be objective and non-discriminatory.

Pay Range: $45,007.59-$69,574.81

Pay Grade: 7
