Overview:
The Production Manager for the Critical Resource Unit (CRU) is responsible for leading all aspects of SQRE (Stewardship, Quality, Reliability and Engagement) and operating the Acid Recovery, Anhydride Manufacturing and Waste Water Treatment core at the Celanese site in beautiful Narrows VA.
Responsibilities:
Stewardship – Owner of the stewardship performance for the operating area- Responsible for the stewardship culture and performance for ARAM WTP core
- Ensures employees performing work within the core understand and operate within the Celanese stewardship programs (e.g. Life critical, Environmental reporting)
- Develops team risk recognition and mitigation culture
- Administration of process safety requirements and compliance
- Takes leading actions to ensure product quality meets or exceeds customer requirements
- Ensures product quality targets are reviewed and understood by all members of the team
- Recognizes potential quality risks and acts proactively to address these risks before defects occur
- Recognizes potential risks to production plan and acts proactively to address risks
- Will quickly develop a detailed understanding of the Cores production capabilities and constraints
- Validate and coordinate production plans
- Ensures production reliability and meets the monthly production plan
- Ensures resources, raw materials and supplies are available for unit operation
- Collaborates with the Asset Leader and Technology Leader on emerging issues and reliability strategy to enable flawless daily execution
- Models employee engagement and displays a can-do attitude
- Actively engages with direct reports, Unit Leader, Asset Leader and Technology Leader to ensure that optimum unit outcomes are achieved
- Reinforce SQRE plans by performing walk-throughs and providing feedback
- Responsible for knowledge retention/development of the Core Team
- Foster a teamwork environment that is inclusive of ideas and solutions
- Employee performance, evaluation and management
- Maintain risk registry for daily execution performance and ensure solutions are in place to mitigate or eliminate any concerns
- Develop team plan to address emerging needs and/or non-routine activities
- Review KPIs and gaps with team. Assigns PPR to resolve gaps and follows up on solutions
- Coordinates with the Technology Leader to remove technical roadblocks
- Escalates 24/7 team needs
- Execute UTP and AOP received from Unit Leader
- Maintains the pipeline of continuous improvements ideas for the daily execution team
- Owner of the Conduct of Operations system
- Drives flawless daily execution
- Coaches and leads direct reports to fully utilize the operating model to improve performance
- Responsible to address and resolve bargaining unit issues in a holistic, timely, professional, creative and constructive manner
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering
- Demonstrated track record of success
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in operations, manufacturing or support engineering
- Excellent communication skills with cross functional teams
- Ability to lead team of direct reports to achieve core and site goals and objectives
- Ability to think holistically and to balance changing production demands, equipment reliability, raw material availability, cost and other internal/external production constraints
- Agility to respond to emerging issues
- Ability to multi-task and handle multiple simultaneous assignments.
- High stress tolerance for a demanding production environment
- Must have technical reasoning, process aptitude and must be willing to go the extra mile to ensure that optimum business outcomes are achieved
- ARAM Core (Acid Recovery, Anhydride Manufacturing) requires a high level of process safety knowledge
