Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Production Operations: Manage safe and efficient production, directing supervisors on daily needs and company KPIs to optimize resources like equipment, materials, and staff.
  • Ensure Safety Compliance: Direct adherence to safety protocols, training staff on best practices, and collaborating with EHS to report incidents and enhance safety measures.
  • Guide Production Supervisors: Support supervisors in achieving KPIs, improving processes, and implementing safety initiatives, while mentoring them to enhance production effectiveness.
  • Maintain Quality Standards: Communicate quality expectations, ensure efficient material use, minimize waste, and collaborate with the quality team for continuous improvement.
  • Equipment Management: Ensure equipment is well-maintained to reduce downtime, working closely with maintenance for preventative measures and training staff to avoid disruptions.
  • Training and Development: Ensure employees receive necessary training on safety, quality, and equipment use, while assessing training effectiveness and supporting staff development.
  • Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with management and stakeholders to identify and implement improvements in processes and systems to enhance quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Reporting and Lean Framework Support: Maintain accurate production reports, meeting deadlines, and support the Lean framework to apply best practices across operations.

The Successful Applicant

Ideal Candidate:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred in process, mechanical, or chemical engineering, business management, or quality assurance.
  • Experience: At least 10 years of supervisory experience in a production shift environment, ideally in plastics processing or extrusion.
  • Lean Manufacturing Expertise: Proven knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, including continuous improvement, change management, TPM, TQM, goal alignment, and health and safety.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and people management abilities, with experience in developing, mentoring, and setting KPIs for team members.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong listening abilities.
  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrated success in effective problem-solving and continuous process improvement.
  • Collaboration: Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders across various functions.
  • Decision-Making: Capable of making independent and effective decisions.
  • Self-Motivated: Ability to work autonomously while being a supportive team player.
  • Safety and Quality Focus: A strong commitment to maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Industry Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with ISO 9000, TS 16949, Lean, or Six Sigma is a plus.
