• Shift: 12-hour shifts, 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM
• Days per Week: 3
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: As needed

Position Summary:

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) supports registered nurses by assisting with patient care and maintaining a safe, clean environment. This role requires working in the Emergency Department, ensuring patients are comfortable, monitoring vital signs, and preparing rooms and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Welcome patients and verify identification
• Prepare patients for exams, procedures, and admission processes
• Perform blood draws (IV and capillary) from newborns to geriatric patients using aseptic techniques and ensure proper labeling
• Conduct EKGs and assist in patient transport as needed
• Maintain cleanliness and functionality of equipment, restock supplies, and prepare rooms for admissions
• Support patient hygiene and comfort, including bathing, toileting, and feeding assistance
• Record vital signs and report to RN; document glucose levels, intake/output, and patient weights
• Respond to patient call lights promptly and communicate patient status changes to RN
• Provide age and culture-appropriate care, communicating effectively with patients, families, and caregivers

Skills and Experience Required:

• At least 1 year of experience as a PCT in a hospital setting is strongly preferred
• Recent acute care experience is essential

Education and Certification Requirements:

• Education: High school diploma or GED
• Certifications:
• Current BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Patient Care Technician (PCT) certification, including Phlebotomy, EKG, and nursing assistant training in both theoretical and clinical settings

Language Requirements:

• Proficient in English (speak, read, write)
