Environmental Licensing Specialist

Overview:

Our Nuclear Services Group is seeking an Environmental Licensing Specialist in either our Kennesaw, GA; Oklahoma City, OK; Naperville, IL; Overland Park, KS; or Dallas, TX office location. In this role, you will have the opportunity to perform and lead environmental analyses in support of nuclear environmental licensing projects nationwide.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct environmental reviews to assess the potential impact of proposed nuclear facilities on air, water, and land resources
  • Prepare environmental reports in accordance with NRC regulations, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and other applicable regulatory guidelines
  • Participate in site visits to gather environmental data and assess potential environmental impacts
  • Support the development of technical content (text, figures, tables) for environmental reports and site feasibility assessments
  • Support environmental licensing applications for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission
  • Interact with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and the public to address environmental concerns
  • Stay current on relevant environmental regulations and best practices
  • Assist in the development and implementation of environmental protection measures
  • Prepare presentations and reports to communicate complex environmental information to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to travel/work in the field 10% of the time. Typical travel duration will be 3-4 days. Office work is typically 90% of the time for this position. Fieldwork can include site visits and meetings with clients and applicable regulatory agencies

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Geology, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental consulting, nuclear power, or a related field
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations (NEPA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, etc.)
  • Experience working with federal or state regulatory agencies
  • Experience developing technical reports, environmental reports and supporting regulatory reviews
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications / Skills
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Geology, or a related field
  • Experience with environmental impact assessments and environmental report preparation
  • An understanding of nuclear facility operations and potential environmental impacts
  • Previous experience permitting utility projects (nuclear, hydropower, renewable and/or oil & gas)
  • Experience working with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission
  • Professional registration (e.g., PE, PG, PMP, etc.) preferred
