Geotechnical Intern - Summer 2025

Overview:

As a Geotechnical Intern for Civil & Environmental Consultants Inc. (CEC), you will perform geotechnical engineering tasks to support project teams with geotechnical subsurface investigations for the engineering designs of building foundations, cut and fill slopes, retaining walls, landslides, and pavements.
Additionally, you will have the opportunity to perform construction materials testing services on active projects. You will support subsurface drilling, obtain soil and rock samples, prepare boring logs, assist in the development of laboratory testing programs, interpret laboratory data, perform geotechnical analyses, and assist in the preparation of detailed geotechnical reports.

Projects will primarily be for commercial, retail, institutional, energy, and industrial clients.

Through the CEC Internship Program, you will:

  • Acquire practical experience applying knowledge from college courses, learn from industry experts, and collaborate with teams across functional groups and locations;
  • Develop a robust professional network through social events and interactive activities;
  • Collaborate closely with a mentor in your discipline to tackle real-world challenges; and
  • Participate in workshops to help foster interpersonal skills within the workplace and prepare students for success in their full-time careers.

Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate Civil or Environmental Engineering program;
  • Prior internship and/or related survey experience a plus; and
  • Local candidates preferred
