Painter-journeyman
Overview:
Under the general supervision of the Manager, Plant Operations (MPO), this position is responsible for applications of various types of interior and exterior finishes in a hospital environment. Performs all painting in a professional and cost effective manner.
Responsibilities:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(*Essential Functions)- Applies covering to walls such as vinyl paper or acoustical fabric whenever specified.
- Applies paints, varnishes, stain enamels or lacquers to decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces, trimmings and fixtures as job dictates.
- Prepares daily painter reports and submits to MPO on a monthly basis.
- Prepares surfaces to be painted, fills nail holes, joints and cracks as needed.
- Sands and scrapes to ensure a smooth surface to accept finish.
- Performs dry walling and minor repair of plaster walls when needed.
- Protects surfaces by removing items such as switch plates and by using masking tape and drop cloths on a daily basis.
Qualifications:
JOB SPECIFICATIONS(Minimum Requirements)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES- Completed approved painters' apprenticeship and holds a Journeyman's card.
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as blue prints, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of the hospital.
- Ability to clearly see objects at a distance as well as close up to perform the job.
- Ability to give and take verbal communications.
- Must be alert and able to concentrate on work.
- Ability to give and take verbal communications.
- Provide compassionate, quality health services for employees, physicians and customers.
- Completed approved painters' apprenticeship and holds a Journeyman's card.
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Required
- Completed approved painters' apprenticeship
- 4 Painter Required
