Overview:
The Pipeline Design Engineer I will join the Pipeline Project Team to design, evaluate and implement efficient pipeline engineering projects to improve safety, reliability and efficiency of operations in various geographical areas located throughout Southern California.
Responsibilities:
Design and Engineering- Coordinate with internal and external teams to create pipeline design deliverables at preliminary, 30%, 60%, 90% and 95% design levels.
- Assist in developing pipeline engineering design including process diagram, plans & profiles view, section drawings, isometric design, hydrostatic testing plans, etc.
- Develop detailed engineering parameters including calculations, design basis documents, project execution plans, equipment sizing & selection.
- Review vendor drawings, datasheets, specifications, calculation and other documents.
- Review client and/or Vendor documents, specifications, datasheets, verification of Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) calculations.
- Review design drawings for constructability, design and accuracy at preliminary, 30%, 60%, 90% and 95% design levels.
- Support clients and various project stakeholders to identify project needs and develop project scoping documents.
- Maintain effective communication and relationships with project team members and clients.
- Participate in interactive planning sessions to establish, cost control and scheduling for assigned projects.
- Coordinate with survey, land, environmental and other project stakeholders as necessary for developing detailed engineering design.
- Monitor project budgets, schedules, and cost control reports, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Prepare and negotiate change orders with client as needed.
- Perform Quality Assurance/ Quality Control on all deliverables.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications- Experience in gas utilities and/or gas processing design engineering required.
- Planning distribution work experience required.
- S. Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or similar field is required.
- Technical knowledge and experience in pipeline engineering and design and understanding of applicable regulations and standards.
- Minimum 2-6 years of relevant full time engineering experience.
- Knowledge of design and visualization software such as AutoCAD.
- Basic level proficiency in Microsoft Office and Teams.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents; safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good problem-solving skills and logical decision-making ability.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondences in a professional manner.
- Coachable engineer, eager to learn with self-motivation.
- Ability to travel as dictated by project requirements including site visits and in person meetings.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record is required.
- Have working knowledge in CFR 49 Parts 191, 192 and 195.
- Have familiarity with ASME/ANSI B314 and B31.8 codes and regulations.
- Possess Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification.
- Field Engineering/Construction experience preferred.
- Experience in consulting (or EPC with Design & Engineering capability) is preferred.
- Experience working with utilities in the State of California is preferred.

Wage Data Per State Requirements:
Salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000. The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
